Southwestern Humanoid-Zoomorphic Stone Figure
Date: prehistoric or early historic period
Dimensions: 5 in. (12.7 cm) by 2 ¼ in. (5.7 cm) by 2 ⅜ in. (6 cm)
Provenance: ex. John Krena, Four Winds Gallery, Pittsburgh, PA; ex. old Pennsylvania collection
Human aspect has an asymmetric quality that is unusual. When lying down, it takes on a zoomorphic form, also unusual and typically not associated with southwestern sculpture. Double-ridge pecking forms the back of the zoomorphic form. Excellent patina (uncleaned) with remnants of white kaolin pigment.
