Papago Wire Basket

Imposing wire coiled fruit bushel basket with soft original steel wire patina. The Tohono O’odham (Papago) are traditionally known for their plant fiber baskets. They also had an established tradition creating these baskets starting in the early 20th century using telegraph or baling wire. Typically the wire baskets are of small scale, flatter shapes or bowl forms. This is the largest example we have ever seen!
